The title of the film is being set in lights as the filming, and editing continues…and the stage is being set for a premiere of June 5^th, with the theme: “Awareness of   Autism Spectrum”, as it swiftly becomes an epidemic that affects our most precious commodity… “Our Children”.  We DESPERATELY search for answers…

And yet…

It feels as though we are on the edge of something grand…and very, very good…A heartfelt documentary, with a strong message, that is both powerful, and strong, and it promises hope… Those within the Autism Community have desperately needed something like this film, in order to broaden awareness, both locally and nationally, and thus help in the fight to prevent and cure Autism.

The documentary will feature a leader, and pioneer in the field of Neurobehavioral Disorders, Dr. Nelson Mane’, and in our own backyard, here in Tampa Bay,  is having an amazing impact on the lives and future of these children, by means of an extremely successful, and groundbreaking therapy, called Hemispheric Integration.

One of Dr. Mane’s young patients will be featured in particular, in this documentary, and he is my little boy named Levi.  This is because of the tremendous success, and positive effects that Hemispheric Integration Therapy has had on his young life, and that of his family.

My son Levi is 9 years old, and truly, one of the best friends that he will ever have in this life, is Dr. Nelson Mane'. The reason for this is because Dr. Mane', has given Levi the possibility of a much brighter future. Levi couldn't throw, or catch a ball -- Now, he can! He could not read -- Now, he can! He could not hold a pencil, or a crayon to draw, or color -- Now, he can! Amazingly, this progress, and much more than can be mentioned, has occurred very swiftly. . He is truly "Connected" in every sense of the word...to his surroundings, to people, and to the world. You see it in his eyes, his smile, and his communication (verbal and emotional). I am truly bonding with my son for the very first time in his life...and we are making up for lost time...it is "Glorious"!!!

Levi, is just one child, of many Autistic Spectrum Children out there, and all have their own specific circumstances, but, they all have one thing in common -- They are sad, and frustrated children, because, they are living in a world, that they cannot "connect" to. The most wonderful results of this therapy is that Levi is finally, "connecting" , after 9 years of struggling, and he is "happy", for the first time in his little life, truly "happy", and "carefree", as any 9 year old boy should ever be. Dr. Nelson Mane' is truly, today's "Miracle Worker", and as surely as Annie Sullivan searched out, and found the lost child, that was Helen Keller, Dr. Mane' has found the beautiful child of my son Levi, who is lost...no more.

Brian Dery, who is the Director of this film, continues to capture stories of hope such as this one of my son Levi, with other local families, and successes.  He is truly on a mission to search out, and form a rescue team for these ones that are so lost.  Brian has earned many Awards for his documentaries such as, “To Have Courage”, “Going For The Gold”, “Abilities To The Xtreme”, “Goals And Determination: Ben’s Inner Strength”, and “Going The Distance: Charlie’s Story Of Endurance”.  We have been told that his last award winning film was such a hit…people are very anxiously awaiting this next documentary about the Autism Spectrum which is:

 

“Walking In the Dark: Finding the Light in Autism”.
